Bye Bye Freshman

Life, New Mexico Tech

So long, freshman status at NMT. I’m ready to move on to being a sophomore… when the time comes, actually! Now, there’s three months I need to figure what to do with… so I suppose I’ll lay down my intentions here, for me to know.

Because leaving a crapload of Post-It’s around my house just won’t do for keeping tasks, here we go:

  • Go to Anime Expo
  • Go to California and hang
  • Finish my revision of the current website theme. Don’t honestly feel like making a new one (yet)
  • Compose more music; school Kovacs about his doubts on my music and piano learning
  • Pick up a few new anime series to watch over the summer (any suggestions, anyone?)
  • Make some new simfiles
  • Submit this site to Despair.nu
  • Sleep
  • Go to Anime Expo.

Well, I guess that’s that.

With more time to mess with in my hands, I might actually be able to do two or three one of these by the summer’s end.*

* Don’t count on it, Alan.

Nice to know I still get a mention lol. But wow, it’s over a year since I left that comment? :O Time goes by fast. I’ve gone from being a young adolescent who spoke broken English to a young adult about to start university in my time at LLP.

Meanwhile, you’ve just become more obsessed with anime :P IT SUCKS! Learn that now before you become sucked into the world of cosplay.

I highly doubt I’ll be doing any cosplay. I’m not into that sort of… thing.

Sure you say that now, but before you know it and beyond your control you’ll be wearing a pointy blue wig with some crazy man skirt on and a stupid logo tattooed to your forehead for no apparent reason…

Seriously though, how has the piano playing progressed? I’ve produced quite a bit of music now and still can’t play haha. I just plug my keyboard into my MIDI interface and then I change the settings on the computer to play different chords and arppegios of the keys I hit lol. Simple! No need to learn :P

I’ve become quite adept at producing music on FL Studio now :D

A year has passed, I’ve gotten really far since I first began. But a still long ways to go.

If you can make music thanks to your program but no thanks to your own skill, then there’s a problem. Where’s the satisfaction in knowing that the computer made the music, not you?

The satisfaction comes in knowing that what I produced is from my imagination, it sounds good and still required skill in being able to use FL Studio. A lot of famous hip-hop producers use FL Studio since hip-hop, reggaeton, electronica and other similar genres are all composed with large libraries of samples and the use of synthesizers. So being able to play an instrument and know the terminology is not necessary if you can still make something that sounds good in what you have available to you.
