Bleach: So…. Slow

Anime/Manga, Rants

It’s Monday, and I’m not looking forward to tomorrow’s usual Dattebayo-subbed release of Bleach. This is a first.

Usually I’d be like “Oh mai gawd! Bleach! Woot!”, but after seeing how slow it’s been progressing (err, backtracking, even) for the last few weeks, I don’t feel all that eager to watch the next episode.

Why?

Because I know it won’t get anywhere. This is just as bad (if not worse) as the Bount subplot (roughly episodes 90 to 110). It sucked in the beginning, but at least it picked up its pace and achieved a conclusion in the later half of the subplot. Here, in this season of Spanish-influenced Jaspanish vocabulary (Arrancar, Vizer, what the hell?), I’ve learned a few things these past ten or so episodes:

  1. Arrancar are 25252 times more powerful than the Shinigami of Soul Society — combined.
  2. Matsumoto shops so much, she needs an entire episode (*cough* 128) of her doing so.
  3. Vizer are laid-back and chill.
  4. Ichigo is now 20 times stronger after dominating his inner Hollow, but can still be bitch-slapped around by the lowest Arrancar ranks.
  5. Inoue Orihime is special — even Aizen said so himself.

There, that about covers what I have learned so far in this subplot of Bleach. In fact, I’ve gathered some data these past few episodes, and I can confidently plot a line graph outlining Bleach’s plot progression. Take a look below:

Bleach’s Plot Progression

Well, that just about sums things up!
