Need More Power!

Life

Perhaps sexual innuendo crossed your mind when you read this title and it made you interested. If that’s the case, then I’m doing my job right of attracting readers, heh.

So I have some good news and some bad news. The catch is that the good news is simply the bad news disguised as good news, so the pervasive cliche of “good news and bad news” isn’t thwarted, violated or molested within the bowels of my website. Anyway, I’ll start with the bad news.

After having taken the beating of its lifetime, hyper kids, Pat-like dropkicks and other ridiculous stunts never thought up of before (the ultimate example being the hammer bash — what the hell), my metal pad is broke, better word would probably be b0rked, because that’s pretty much what it was. Now I can’t say finally broken, because I only owned it for a good two or three weeks; a pretty short-lived and therefore shameful period of time, considering that this thing’s supposebly made of metal and plywood and therefore should have, to the very least, withstood a tank shell or a C3 or two, make it a nuke if it was truly hardcore. Unfortunately, it wasn’t, and fell without making much noise.

More into detail (and therefore dedicating a paragraph all to itself), the right arrow is broken, rather, it stopped responding altogether. Now I don’t know why, and I probably don’t want to know, but I imagine it has something to do with its crappy circuitry — all the other buttons work fine, and I cleaned it up pretty nice yesterday, but it’s still broken. Now I own a hunk of wood (with metal) of what seems to total up to about two hundred dollar’s worth of green paper weight — or dollars, if you really want to call them that. :-P My biggest challenge lies within the persuasive-ness of my already-submitted Return Request to RedOctane, fearless manufacturer of the metal pad (and my old soft one).

Now let’s all hope that RO will comply with my request and refund my $200 back, because I could really use that money. That could send me $200 closer toward a Cobalt Flux. ;)

I almost forgot to say, now for the “good news,” the good news is, is that I feel happy today for the first time in a long while. I don’t know why, but I imagine I slept-walked last night and probably took some happy pills or something. Or perhaps it’s because my other brother from California is visiting for a while and that the family’s been together more often than usual (and for us, family gatherings are piss-rare).

Not-so-revelant meta-news: I started learning how to play the piano last Friday from a friendly instructor. I must be pretty stupid for aspiring to become a piano player this late in my life (who the hell starts at 17). I tossed away a lot of opportunities in my younger years of learning the piano, for reasons I don’t know why, but I bet it was pure stupidity on my part. Anyhow, I’m glad I’m learning the piano, no matter how late it is. It really is a beautiful instrument, and I’m astonished at how fast I’m learning this 88-keyed instrument of doom.
