So, since the finishing of episode 35, around two weeks back, there was a slow period of inactivity from the fansubbers working on this series. It wasn’t a good thing, for I (and many other anime fans) was left in the dark with no new episodes of any of my series to download and watch for quite some while, for the addicts like me, this spelt disaster. Much like daily dosages of prescribed medicine, lack of weekly episodes inflicted various horrendous effects on me. Some of these effects included lack of sleep, eyes bursting due to lack of exposure to Japanese animation on the screen, not blinking for hours on end, and much, much more. For around two weeks, the trackers on popular anime indexing sites have met a decrease in new torrents. It looked like it was all over, for no new episodes of the popular series were coming out for some while.
Spoiler warning like usual.
TRC 37
Warning: Contains spoilers
Fortunately, that period of decay is now over, the new and 3rd week is passing by, and much to my surprise, 2 new episodes of TRC were released in one day. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with double dosages! 36 went well, progressed the plot like usual — much expected from the creative people at CLAMP (the company behind the series). Our main attention turns to episode 37, in which it offers something a bit different from the usual; one that every anime fan fears from the bottom of their hearts: Filler.
Oh noes, could it be that Tsubasa Chronicle is getting desperate with fillers? Maybe, but this filler is quite different, for it is a filler that is done well. Yeah, you heard me — done well. My advice is that if there has to be filler, it better be pretty damn funny/good to make it worthy of being part of the series chronlogy. TRC 37 fulfills my criteria. In a nutshell, without progressing the plot of any kind (besides the fact they gain another feather, woot), this snapshot sums it all up, note the caption that Fye made at the bottom:

After having collected another feather and discovering that they could time travel in the last world of Shura/Shara, the heroes make the mistake of relying on Mokona to lead the way into the next world, for they landed in the next world — as chibi characters in the world of a storyboard, where everything was controlled by an artist — time, space, coloring, etc. etc. And who was the storyboarder? It was none other than Mokona, who landed in a different dimension of the same world and was acting as the storyboarder. Long story short, this filler made absolutely no sense in terms of progressing the plot (’til the very end), but it did give a good laugh, and when I say laugh, I’m meaning retarded stuff like Syaoran and Sakura getting nuked by random explosives and flying in the air, along with a random robotic Mokona swallowing chibi Kurogane alive, and then add that to Fye’s amazing ability to attract girls in the chibi school. Add all of that together, and you get a filler that’s worth it and won’t waste your time: The good kind of filler that won’t suck…

literally.
Perhaps if Narutard offered these kinds of fillers more often, it wouldn’t suck half as much as it’s sucking right now as a series.

I’ve heard a lot about Tsubasa Chronicles — I’ll have to add it to my anime-I’ve-been-meaning-to-watch-but-can’t-download-cause-of-my-modem list.
Oh, and check out Desert Punks if you’ve nothing better to do.
