Life, School

Don’t ask about the title, got a bit uncreative. Sorry for not writing in a long while, got carried away by busy busy things in real life (*smacks it in the face*).

Okay, so I found out some weeks back that juniors (that’s 11th graders for you foreign people) in this state have to take a standards assessment test. Wow, you gotta be BSing me, for educational standards in New Mexico is not exactly up to par with the rest of the world, and that’s nothing to be proud of. The standards are so low, that to fail this “standards assessment,” means you either must be really freaking dumb, or you failed on purpose — either way, you don’t deserve to live after that.

Because of this testing phase, beginning tomorrow, the students at the school were given the pleasure of attending only on Monday, and no school on Tuesday and Wednesday (today). Thursday and Friday are reserved for testing days for the 11th graders, and only we have to come — everyone else gets those days off. Wow, that’s how you have a nearly 8-day weekend of no school. They didn’t do this last year when we were sophomores (10th graders), so we didn’t get our share of enjoying this weekend in the past. Dang those school board administrators! They don’t even know half the story of how to run an efficient educational system!

Nevertheless, I still have to go to tennis practice everyday after school, and for some gay reason, it always turns cloudy during the afternoon. One moment it’s nice and sunny in the morning, then it instantly becomes cloudy and it’s like “Oh fizz! It’s gonna rain, double-yoo-tee-ef!!!” By the way, our first real match begins on Tuesday against Rio Grande — prepare to be crushed, worthless enemies in tennis!

I also notice today’s Ash Wednesday. Honestly, I never really want to attend church — I can’t stand sitting in one place for about an hour and half, hearing lectures, sermons, and other mumbo-jumbo that you have already heard for the past 10 years in your life, not to mention on your own when reading the Bible and stuff at home. So my brother made the choice of not attending church just now. I feel guilty for having ditched God, but if He went for himself and saw how redundant the weekly masses are, He’d feel for me too.

… But that’s just a thing of speculation — I ain’t God.

We have the MCAS here in MA, and it’s pretty hard to get fail - however , I can’t remember if “Needs improvement” (below ‘Proficient’) is a passing grade. Probably.

If you get Advanced in both categories, you get full tuition to any state school! Which is cool ^_^

So are you participating in lent? I hate standardized tests. Glad im a senior. ;)

your state is awsome. I can score nearly perfect on the SATs and the state colleges here (VA) will barely even look at me. Then again, its UVa…

and yes, glad to be a senior and having most of that already over with.

Really, Maelos? UVa should be nice to in-staters.
