I spent most of the last few days downloading the Air TV series, I just finished watching the movie last night. All I can say is, it’s a very interesting twist of blissful romance, comedy, and teardrops of tragedy. I highly enjoyed it, but you don’t have to be an anime freak to enjoy it, probably anybody can watch it and enjoy it. I didn’t watch the series yet, but I will during the weekend when I finish getting the rest of them.

Air, mostly, is about this lone wanderer (I think in his high school years, not sure) by the name of Yukito who seeks to fulfill a “prophecy” his mother made to him about finding an “girl in the sky.” Being a nomad, and having little or no money, he makes money by doing puppet shows with his little awesome doll (which he seems to control mentally, but maybe the animators just decided to not put any puppet strings O_O).
He meets a young girl (middle school years?) during a stop in a small town. She is named Misuzu, a strange girl who lives with her mom and supposebly never had any friends. She eagerly befriends Yukito and offers him to stay at her house, which he accepted and upon arriving is greeted by her hilarious, alcoholic mother. The movie constantly shifts (with cool special effects, ooooh) between a summer time 1000 years ago and the present (which happens to be summer). As the story and movie progresses, both of these times and its occurances are closely tied together and develop a rather comical, romantic story about these two people.

Overall, I liked it, it was rather cute, especially Misuzu, of whom I notice she’s always cheerful and smiling, but always carrying a deep sadness inside her about her alcoholic mother. In the end (I won’t spoil), lots of truths are revealed and it eventually turns into small bits of tragedy for everybody. The ending was sad, very sad, plain and simple, I won’t say much about it. If you’re planning to watch it, by all means, please do, it’s a good movie and I highly enjoyed it, and I’m sure you will too.
Disclaimer: This is not a review, noobs! This is merely the opinions of a guy who spent too much time watching anime and happened to pick up a sweet new movie, do NOT, and I mean, do NOT depend on this “review” for any accuracy, as it is highly biased and it is merely opinion. Now move along and go watch the movie.
