About the Author
Last updated: July 2008.
Hi there. I’m Alan Huynh, a 19 year-old New Mexico Tech student attempting a degree in electrical engineering (and possibly computer science), is bored enough to write up a quick website and blog, is just non-lazy enough to write up this page, and is now here for you all to see and know about.
I’m a student, gamer, anime fan, computer geek, blogger, semi-deep thinker, do-er, poet of rage, and a rather whimsical person… oh, and I’m still single (woot). Take your pick. Recently, I started playing the piano and composing music too, and if you haven’t already guessed from my last name, I’m Vietnamese… well, more like half Vietnamese and half Chinese, but you don’t need to know that!
Aside from that, I now live in the dead town of Socorro, New Mexico, though I used to live for a great deal of my life in California. Now in college and barely finding any time for myself and others, I still try to find time to fubar with computers and the like in my spare time, while continuing my little quest for knowledge and then some.
Aside from my fantastically exciting life (sarcasm?), I try to do web design-y things as a hobby… which could very well turn into a living. Working for food is always good.
And, of course, like most Tech students, I’m weird, random, and unpredictable — apparently all of that enough to realize my own abnormality. Totally cool.
So I was going to sum myself up in a list, but I suck with lists, so ha.
My frequently used aliases are Lyth and Zeth/z3th. You’ll most often see these names in the StepMania/bemani community, last.fm and various online games. Due to the four-letter nature of such names, it’s pretty damn likely to mistake me for someone else who (probably earlier than me) has the same name, but I swear I’m the more important one!
About the Domain
The domain was bought by Caleb in September of 2006, because eventidal.net was expiring, and I really started developing a distaste for that name. One day while brainstorming amidst a heavy rainstorm, I came up with a name that would be with me for most likely forever, and that’s the name you’re looking at now: Rainender. The name came because I wanted the rain to end so it didn’t friggin’ make loud noises every time I tried to think, or go about my daily life.
After it did end, though, I began missing the feeling of its downfall through the air, and realized that rainfall is indeed awesome; rain should never end, because something as simple as drops of water from the heavenly sky brings about so many symbolic and powerful meanings.
The name has stuck ever since.
The site, as of May 2007, is being hosted by Maelos, because Maelos, better known as John Fox, is a very awesome person who would not think twice about helping others, giving away, and thinking none of himself. There should be more people like him in this world, so they can replace… uh, un-awesome people.
